Stir until dissolved, and allow to boil for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and promptly pour the syrup over the hot baklava, allowing it to soak in. Let cool completely, then cut into diamond shapes. Optional: garnish with crushed pistachio crumbs for an extra touch of elegance. You can customize the filling by incorporating almonds or even different spices like nutmeg for a flavor twist.
